Salvation FAQ

If you've done much "surfing" on the Internet, then you've probably noticed the letters "FAQ" on web pages.  Exactly what does "FAQ" signify?  It's the acronym for "Frequently-Asked Questions".  This page features salvation "FAQ", i.e., four frequently-asked questions about salvation from sin...

WHY IS SALVATION NECESSARY?

Your sin separates you from God now (Isaiah 59:1-2) and dooms you to everlasting separation in hell (Matthew 7:21-23; 25:41,46).  You cannot take away your sins by your own efforts (Matthew 16:26; 19:23-26).

HOW IS SALVATION POSSIBLE?

God ["the Word"] became a human named Jesus (John 1:1,14).  He died to make salvation possible for sinners (Romans 5:6-8).  Only the blood of Jesus can wash away your sins (Ephesians 1:7).

WHO WILL RECEIVE SALVATION?

God offers salvation to all sinners on a conditional basis (John 8:31-36).  The conditions for receiving salvation include...
   • Hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:14).
   • Believing in Jesus Christ (Acts 16:30-34).
   • Repenting of all past sins (Acts 2:37-39; 17:30-31).
   • Confessing faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 8:35-37; Romans 10:10).
   • Being baptized [immersed] into Jesus Christ (Acts 8:38; 22:12-16).

HOW IS SALVATION MAINTAINED?

After salvation from sin has been received, it can be lost (Hebrews 6:4-6; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27).  God’s condition for maintaining your salvation is continued obedience (Hebrews 5:8-9; 1 Timothy 4:16).
